Buachaille Etive Mòr
Buachaille Etive Mòr is one of the most iconic mountains in Scotland, its distinctive pyramid shape dominating the entrance to Glencoe. Buachaille Etive Mòr means “Great Herdsman of Etive.” It’s ridge has four main peaks: Stob Dearg (1,021 m), Stob na Doire (1,011 m), Stob Coire Altruim (941 m) and Stob na Bròige (956 m). Two of these, Stob Dearg and Stob na Bròige, are officially classified as Munros.
Our main objective for the day is summiting Stob Dearg (1,022m), the highest and most striking peak of the Buachaille. From there, we continue on to Stob na Doire (1,011m), offering superb views across Glencoe.
Depending on weather, time, and group fitness, the route can be extended to include Stob Coire Altruim (941m) and Stob na Bròige (956m), before descending via Coire Altruim. This flexibility allows us to adapt the day to suit the conditions and the group, ensuring everyone has a safe and rewarding experience.
Expect a big mountain day with steep ascents, rocky ground, and sections that require care and concentration. In return, you’ll be rewarded with some of the finest views in the Highlands, sweeping across Glencoe, Rannoch Moor, and the surrounding peaks.
